Kashgar and Sunday Market

When we come down to the Tarim basin, villages get more frequent and at each of them poeple gather together to welcome us and to glare at us.

Finally we reach Kashgar, the old silk road trading center. It's the end of the Karakoram Highway.

Most people are Uighur, Kirghiz, Tajiks, etc. ...

... but Chinese influence is omnipotent (so bicycles play an important role!).

In Kashgar one must not miss Sunday Market.

It is said to be the biggest market in central asia. Thousands of people gather together to trade virtually everything. A mind-boggling parade of people, faces and goods. We bath in the crowd and get overwhelmed by the multitude of impressions from this day.
