Cycling Trans-Labrador Highway
We feel to be back in civilized land. Little fishermens villages
every couple of km's, people,
paved roads - what a contrast to Labrador.
But oops! Newfoundland is still kind of big! After
a rest day in Terra Nova National Park we realize it's still a couple of
100km's to St. Johns. As we have to catch our flight, we just take Highway
1 and keep cycling. The last days the weather gets seriously cold (I do
wear three cycling trousers), wet and windy (from the front, what else).
With
a terrible rain-shower we drizzle into St. Johns. Soaked, cold and definitely
exhausted. Still we feel overwhelmed by the impressions of the last weeks
and we're really happy we could conclude our tour. A hot shower and a heated
room add for additional happiness.
In the evening of our last day the weather clears up. Watching over the Atlantic brings up memories of another wet and cold (but still nice) cycling trip in Scotland a couple of years ago. With an incredible sunset Newfoundland says "goodbye" to us.
